Actress Nayanthara is currently acting in the films Idhu Namma Aalu, Nanbaenda and Night Show. In an exclusive interview with her:
Who is your favourite actor?
In Malayalam it is Mohanlal and in Tamil it is Rajinikanth. In Telugu it is Venkatesh.
If you had not taken up acting what would have been your profession?
I would have been a dancing artiste or a chartered accountant.
What is your pet name?
Some call me Mani while others call me Nayan. Few call me also as Diana.
What will you do in your leisure time?
I will listen to music. Long drive is my favourite. I will also see English films.
Your favourite foods?
I am fond of North Indian dishes. I also like Chinese food and all the food cooked by my mother.
Favourite colors?
Black, white and light green
Fashion?
I like to dress very simply but at the same time it should be bright. I always that I should be noticed even if there are 10 or 100 people around me.
Favourite jewels?
I like to wear jewels that are made out of platinum.
Films that were turning point in your career?
When I was new to cinema, they saw me as glamour actress. After me acting with Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi, my image was changed. That was the film which brought my acting skills. In Telugu the films Lakshmi and Sri Rama Jayam were the turning points. The Seetha role which I donned in Sri Rama Jayam proved that I can act in any kind of roles.
Favourite dresses?
I like to wear saris. I also like to wear Shalwar kameez.
Favourite places?
Bangalore, Canada and all places in Europe
What don’t you like in others?
Anger and people who act as if they are much matured.
How should your would be husband be?
He should treat me with nobility. He should give importance to my family members. He should take care of me lovingly. He should also respect me.
What are the lessons you have learnt from cinema?
Never lose the self confidence whatever disaster we meet. Failures should not worry. Whatever difficulties come, we should raise like the waves. Should not open the mouth about the matters you don’t know.
